Do you have a Career or a Job?

 


It seems like most people dread the sound of the alarm and the thought of going to that “job” again. If you are one of those individuals, maybe, just maybe, you want to find that “job” you enjoy. Even better yet, a career that you enjoy and will help you meet your personal and financial goals in life.

Life is much too short to spend the majority of your waking hours doing something you don’t like. We all have talents, skills and abilities that can make a difference in our work life. Finding out where you fit is the challenge. There are many ways to fit yourself into the career puzzle.

One-way is to make two columns on a piece of paper. The first column is labeled “Likes” and the other “Dislikes.” Write out everything you can think of in each column and soon you will see a pattern of likes develop. Now what? Use the Internet and go to http://www.acinet.org/acinet/default.asp, America’s Career Info Net and use the tools available there. There are many tools available to assist you in looking for that dream career.

Susan Corey, Workforce Development Manager for the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance once said about careers and job security, “If you know where you are going, they will be there to meet you!”

In a study done for the Center for Business Excellence., By PWD Solutions Inc., “Emerging Workforce Attitudes in Volusia and Flagler Counties,” 81 percent of the workforce surveyed is very happy with their jobs. If you are in the 14 percent that said no or 5 percent that didn’t respond, it’s time to get with it! There are opportunities waiting for you, we can show you the door but you have to walk through!
