You’ve got the education and the work experience for all those jobs you’ve been applying for, so why haven’t you been hired?
Could it be your ‘soft skills’?
You ask, “What are ‘soft skills’?”
Some of the most crucial soft skills are:
- self-confidence
- attitude
- motivation
- passion
- creativity
- intelligence
- talent
- diversity
- networking
- teamwork
- communication
Are you confident enough to think outside the box? Are you passionate about the job for which you are applying? Are you a team player? Do you communicate effectively?
All of the above questions pertain to soft skills. If you answered ‘yes’ to all of them, you have good soft skills.
Your resume may get you an interview but it’s up to you to get the job. Find ways to highlight your soft skills during the interview.
Show your passion by asking questions about the job. Display your positive attitude in the way you answer questions. Give an example of your past work experience that displays your teamwork skills.
Soft skills are hard to identify and even harder to measure. It’s your job to put your soft skills on display. So put a smile on your face, a positive attitude in your heart, and go into that interview knowing that you’re the right person for the job.
