Recruiting “Professional Employees”
|
When recruiting for technically oriented positions, most employers will focus on relevant education and specific job experience. Oftentimes a qualified applicant can be identified by an objective review of past employment to determine appropriate skill competency.
Professional positions can be a bit more subjective. While past experience and relevant education is important, it is often equally important that the candidate be the “best fit” to the overall organization. In order to determine this “fit” it is beneficial to expose the top two or three candidates to other key members of the management team during the interview process, and solicit honest feedback from the team as to the fit. This process is usually done during the second or third interview.
This exposure will also benefit the candidate in their decision to evaluate whether they will be fulfilled working within the corporate environment. For the professional employee (emerging workforce), a satisfying environment is often viewed as more important than compensation and benefit package.
If you are looking for a current recruitment opportunity, the Workforce Development Board and the Daytona Beach News-Journal are partnering in presenting a professional job fair on January 19, 2005 at ERAU’s ICI Center from 11 am – 7 pm.
